Graham Hobbs, a local photographer from Bideford, has had one of his photographs made into a greeting card by Medici Cards Limited, after he was selected as a winner of the Medici category of the RHS Photographic Competition 2008. Graham, who had his photograph ‘Poppies’ chosen out of thousands of entries in the 2008 competition, has agreed to worldwide greetings card rights for the image, and is very pleased with the finished result. He says ‘I can’t believe that I am a winner of the Medici category of the RHS Photographic Competition and have had my image made into a greetings card that will be sold across the world! I told my parents straight away, as it was their poppies that I photographed in their garden in Cornwall. I am a very happy photographer!’ As the competition is run from RHS Garden Rosemoor, in Great Torrington, Graham has teamed up with the garden to give away 100 of his beautiful greeting cards. The first 100 visitors to Rosemoor on Saturday 18 thJuly will receive one of the cards on entry to the garden. RHS Garden Rosemoor opens at 10am every day.

Over a period of time, I will be working and capturing unique images around the island. This work is an ongoing project, a challenge because of the weather pattern, which will give my artistic interpretation of the unique beauty of the island.
I will be taking many trips across to the island on the MS. Oldenburg to spend time photographing the wildlife, landscape and people. This work is very enjoyable and will be testing my professionalism and after the first few trips it has become enormously satisfying.
As soon as as I am satisfied with the outcome of the project I will post the photographs on the website and you will be able to see them on the Landmark Website. |

Publicity Day at the RNLI Appledore |

I was invited by the RNLI at Appledore to take a series of photographs that they could use for their website.
I spent time on the slipway getting to know the crew - photographing them in their working environment on land and at sea. This image, taken just before they launched the lifeboat, showing in them fully equipped for the days exercises. After finding the right onshore spot - using a ladder - I prepared my lenses to get perfect shots of them in action at sea. The image won this prize at the festival... 2009 - Appledore Visual Arts Festival - Action /Calendar 2010 RNLI Appledore. One of the action shots at sea was used as part of the Appledore Visual Arts Festival Calendar 2010. |
